An extensive cleanup operation was conducted on Route 66, a key road leading to Las Américas International Airport and La Caleta Ecological Underwater Park, to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for the upcoming Easter holiday. Led by the General Directorate of Road Beautification and Circumferential Avenues (Digecac), in collaboration with La Caleta Municipality and the local Red Cross, the initiative resulted in the collection of hundreds of bags of solid waste along this transportation corridor.
Tree Pruning
In addition to cleaning, high and low tree pruning, greening efforts, and ornamental plant cultivation were carried out to enhance and preserve the surroundings. Authorities emphasized that these activities aim not only to enhance the area’s aesthetics but also to protect the flora and fauna while offering holidaymakers a more pleasant and secure journey.
The operation saw the involvement of technical and community brigades working in unison to positively impact this important route, frequented by hundreds of citizens during the Holy Week. With these measures, institutions reaffirm their dedication to public beautification and natural space preservation, particularly in high-traffic areas like Route 66.
The initiative was spearheaded by Digecac’s Director General, Dr. Rodolfo Valera Grullón, Deputy Director General Elizabeth Burgos, La Caleta’s Mayor Máximo Soriano, local Red Cross representative Juan Miguel Ozuna, and La Caleta Underwater Park’s Administrator Gilberto Ávalo Tavárez.
