The information was provided by the Presidency of the Republic on Sunday.
According to the institution, the operation was carried out in support of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the Directorate of Extrahospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH), due to the difficult access conditions in the mountainous area.
Receiving medical attention
The Presidency stated that the tourists were taken to the Regional Traumatological and Surgical Hospital Professor Juan Bosch, where they received specialized medical care. The identities of the hikers are currently unknown.
According to official information, the evacuation was carried out aboard a UH1H aircraft and involved flight personnel and aeromedical support.
