Jessica Pegula Retains Title in Charleston

Both players had six break points during the final on the green clay courts of Charleston, but Pegula capitalized on five of hers compared to Starodubtseva’s one. Pegula also boasted impressive statistics, winning 76.5% of points on her first serve and 52.2% on her second, along with 58.9% and 52.9% on return against the Ukrainian.

This victory marks Pegula’s fourth WTA 500 title and second of the year, following her success at the WTA 1000 event in Dubai. Having also won Charleston in 2025, Pegula leads the WTA in 2026 with 24 victories, making her the only player with two titles alongside Aryna Sabalenka, who has three.

Pegula’s triumph in Charleston is notable as she becomes only the second player after Serena Williams in 2012 and 2013 to win consecutive titles at the tournament. With eleven individual titles to her name, Pegula’s exceptional performance solidifies her position as a force to be reckoned with on the WTA tour.
