Two Firefighters Die in Crash While Searching for Missing Woman

The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday in Richmond Township, about 72 kilometers northwest of Philadelphia.
The victims were identified as fire chief Jeff Buck and deputy chief Robert Shick Jr., members of the Walnuttown fire department, who were traveling north in a utility vehicle when they were hit by a Toyota Camry sedan traveling in the opposite direction, according to the Berks County coroner.
According to NBC Philadelphia, the utility vehicle was traveling on the shoulder of Route 222 when the Camry veered into its path. Authorities stated that a man and a woman traveling in the sedan fled the scene after the crash but were later arrested.
A video taken at the scene showed the utility vehicle overturned on its side after the impact.
As of Sunday, authorities had not provided further details on the arrest of the Camry’s occupants or the search for the missing woman that prompted the operation.
The autopsies of the firefighters, both residents of Fleetwood, were scheduled for Monday.
The Walnuttown Fire Company expressed their condolences and prayers to the Shick and Buck families in a message shared on Facebook, mourning the loss of their colleagues.
